
This one came in with no 12 volts and to check a questionable solder job on Q24. The board had had some work done on it in the past, and most of it good decisions, reflows and cap swaps I would have done. Whoever did the work though must have had a very hot iron as a lot of through holes were pulled and Q24 was not an exception.
The flasher secondary fuse at F111 was blown. One of the top side patches to Q24 had lifted and killed it. Q22 tested bad as well. I replaced both with TIP102s. Q24 I cleaned up better than it was, but there were no through holes left on any of the three and I didn’t have eyelets small enough to rebuild that route. I used a 0 ohm jumper on the top side for one jump rather than a massive solder blob on the side leg as it was.
I replaced C5 since it was original. C2 and C4 had been done recently. There were some reflows I needed to do as well even though a good deal of the usual suspects had already been hit. As for the missing 12 volts, the regulated 12 volts was actually present and it ended up being a bad LED on the board which I replaced. That was a first after many, many WPC89 driver board repairs.
