Williams Sorcerer –
This one needed a decent amount of love, but went the distance and is playing very nicely now!
It needed new legs, levelers and bolts first thing. I also put a new front lock on it as the key was missing on the old one. The CPU board was, thankfully, very clean. There was a very minor amount of corrosion I had to clean up in an isolated area. I put a socketed CR2032 on it and replaced all of the electrolytics on the CPU board as well. One molex for the volume pot had to be replaced from wire deterioration.
The power supply was rebuilt, reflowed, and I swapped out the 39k ohm resistors in the display line for posterity. The solenoid fuse also had to be replaced as it was blown. Two molex connectors in the GI line had to be replaced. I also added in line fuses to the bridge rectifiers in the head to prevent a catastrophe down the road.
Once down to the playfield, I shopped it out with new black rubbers and comet 2SMD LEDs. The star posts, lane guides, and post caps were replaced with new. All 3 flippers were rebuilt and also needed new coils as a couple were wrong spec and they all had the sleeves seized up inside. I put new bats on with orange perfect play rubbers and put orange post rubbers on too for a little pop.
The stand up target decals were all replaced, new balls added, and multiple screw holes patched so posts wouldn’t be wiggly. Lexan washers were added under the slings for protection and I had to replace one pop bumper bracket, its coil sleeve, and plunger rod which were all broke. Player 2 and Player 3 displays were also shot. I replaced them with old stock working plasmas that I had on hand.
